# Announcing Etherlink 6.4: a security and liveness hardening for Farfadet

A new Etherlink kernel upgrade proposal, Etherlink 6.4, has just been submitted to Etherlink’s [Fast governance](https://governance.etherlink.com/governance/fast) mechanism.

This is a security and liveness hardening upgrade, addressing different issues identified after the activation of Etherlink 6.3 during internal stress-testing and audit campaigns ahead of the first Tezos X kernel release.

Should the governance vote be successful, Etherlink 6.4 will activate on mainnet on Thursday, 11 June 2026.

We will publish a full post-mortem report once (and if) the new kernel upgrade is fully deployed.

The kernel upgrade proposal (`00625d22abf10a520cae5489b7e19df70219a150d336ee6dc0a8eb4c21eca43c1b`) has already been injected in the current proposal period.

- **Proposal period vote:** fast governance period **401** , spanning between L1 levels [#13,565,089](https://tzkt.io/13565089) (June 9 11:25 UTC) and [#13,569,888](https://tzkt.io/13569888) (June 9 19:25 UTC).

- **Promotion period vote:** fast governance period **402** , spanning between L1 levels [#13,569,889](https://tzkt.io/13569889) (June 9 19:25 UTC) and [#13,574,688](https://tzkt.io/13574688) (June 10 03:25 UTC).

👉 Remember that Etherlink **fast** governance periods last ~8 hours, which means bakers would need to vote up to two times within 12 hours to participate in both votes.

Bakers can cast their votes in a few clicks with Etherink’s governance [explorer UI](https://governance.etherlink.com/), or using [TezGov](https://gov.tez.capital/). We provide further voting instructions to vote with Octez CLI below.

## Annex: voting instructions

Bakers can cast their votes in a few clicks with Etherink’s [governance explorer](https://governance.etherlink.com/), or using [TezGov](https://gov.tez.capital/). It is also possible to vote using Octez CLI, with the following commands:

**Proposal Period (fast governance period 401)**

The Proposal period vote is currently underway: it started on L1 level [#13,565,089](https://tzkt.io/13565089) (June 9 11:40 UTC) and will run until [#13,569,888](https://tzkt.io/13569888) (June 9 19:40 UTC).

You can upvote the Etherlink 6.4 kernel upgrade proposal using the following Octez CLI command:

**Promotion Period (fast governance period 402)**

If the Proposal period is successful, the Promotion period would span between between L1 levels [#13,569,889](https://tzkt.io/13569889) (June 9 19:41 UTC) and [#13,574,688](https://tzkt.io/13574688) (June 10 03:41 UTC).

You can vote for the Etherlink 6.4 kernel upgrade proposal using the following Octez CLI command:
