Announcing Octez v16.0~rc3

:mega: v16.0~rc3, the third release candidate for Octez 16.0 is available. If this release candidate proves to be stable, it will be soon released as version 16.0.

Octez v16.0~rc3 release candidate includes a new version of the Mumbai protocol, PtMumbai2 that replaces the current protocol proposal PtMumbaii (see the separate announcement for more details on this new proposal). If the latter proposal gets accepted in the current Promotion period, nodes running v16.0~rc3 or later versions will perform a user activated protocol override, and activate the new proposal instead.

Compared to v16.0~rc2, this release candidate:

  • Fixes the issues encountered while building the Octez suite on MacOS.
  • Fixes an issue that caused a slowdown in node initialization.
  • Allows the Octez baker to propose blocks faster, and to start pre-endorsing block proposals earlier – making the baker ready for the blocktime reductions expected with Mumbai.
