Multisig (Umami Wallet) Staking

Hello, I’m MEK.txt.

Artist branched to be a builder in Tezos under doggodog lab (our first product is SBJKT), nice to meet you all— first time posting here.

Would love to ask if there’s any notion in allowing multisig wallet to stake? I’m (we’re) currently using Umami wallet as our multisig right now, and would love to know if there’s any plan in the future to enable staking from our lab’s vault there.

I also owned a real-life business studio who vault some of our capital in tezos (staked too), but right now it’s not ideal since it’s a personal wallet. Would really love to see it moved to multisig wallet for trustless operations.

I’m sure in the future there’ll be similar cases to mine, who owned entities and/or groups that works and vaulted their capital predominantly in multisig. Perhaps it’s not unrealistic to see this applied before a bigger adoption wave come to tezos.

Let me know if I miss something, or misinformed in this regards.
Thank you!

MEK.

Thanks for the vouch, Ben!

Hi Everyone,

We don’t know each other yet. I am Vincent Poulain, from Nomadic Labs. I recently joined as Manager of Technical User Relations. I am very pleased to virtually meet you all here.

Staking from a multisig wallet is currently being studied on our end. We plan to include it in a proposal once we have carried out the security assessment and established a proper implementation design. This requires some work, so we foresee it as being a part of our S proposal at the earliest.

Hello, Vincent. Pleased to meet you, but I’m not 100% convinced just yet.

Got 2 shady direct messages in my Agora’s DM from two accounts with dubious history and background, and I’m understandably reluctant to take your words as the official statement when it’s shows that you’ve just joined 12 hours ago without any attribution of official tezos/nomadic on your bio. And again— understandable, given your new position  .

But would it be possible for you to get the official attribution on your bio first? Something that is official from Tezos Agora or something before I’m 100% convinced, and dare spread this news to others (I don’t want to cause rumours/misinformations)— since in my understanding, a handful of people asked about this already, and I’m sure many others will ask in the future in line with bigger adoption.

“Don’t trust, verify” is a principle I can only agree with.
I have updated my bio, and hopefully my colleagues will help me backing my claim

Thank you for taking it kindly, Vincent .
And yes indeed, will wait until there’s confirmation from your work colleague, and/or any official attribution outside of description/bio in your profile tag for 100% confirmation.

Have a good Tuesday.

Hello, NomadicLabs!

Thanks for the confirmation and for taking your time to reply here, and indeed now I’m 100% convinced that this is the official statement— and for Vincent’s identity as the core team as well from NomadicLabs. Will take the information to the general public!

By any chance, what would be the best convincing element from the public/indie developers/corporate representatives to Nomadic Labs, in an effort to make Multisig Staking come faster than S proposal, say, in R proposal?

Would love to learn more, thank you!

Hi Mek,

We appreciate your enthusiasm and involvement!

We prioritize our work based on the TezosX roadmap, while also incorporating community requests that seem to have a consensus on their need. This request, in particular, has been brought to our attention through multiple channels, and this is why we are working on it.

However, it’s essential to note that the protocol is critical software, and we can’t compromise on quality. We take the time necessary to ensure security and implementation design that meets this criticality.

Thank you for your understanding and patience!

Hello Vincent,

Thanks for the clear answer! Well understood with how critical the feature is, and the complexities lies under it as well.

Hopefully there’ll be update about this feature in the future (possibly on S protocol upgrade, as you said), will be waiting until then.

Thanks again for taking your time to answer, Vincent!
