New release candidate v10.0~rc1 of Octez

A new release candidate of Octez (10.0~rc1) is available. Octez is the new name for the free, open-source, community-driven Tezos distribution at Tezos / tezos · GitLab (see announcement: Announcing Octez). If this release candidate proves to be stable, it will be released as version 10.0.

We invite you to test this release candidate, for instance on the Granadanet test network, and to report any issue on Issues · Tezos / tezos · GitLab so that they can be fixed before the release.

This release candidate changes the storage backend and requires specific care when updating.

The new storage backend uses a different file format for storing files which contain the block history. This new storage layer provides a more efficient backend in terms of both performance and storage size. As a result, a Mainnet node in full mode requires around 6GB of disk space, compared to more than 22GB before that. In archive mode it drops from 56GB to 9GB. It also reduces by a factor of more than 2 the time needed to export and import snapshots.

This version also notably introduces an Access Control List (ACL) feature for RPCs, a new light mode for the client, and a new executable tezos-proxy-server .

Full changelog and update instructions are available in the version 10 release page: Version 10.0~rc1 — Tezos (master branch, 2021/06/28 09:47) documentation
