Node Hardware Requirements

Can someone quantify what hardware is actually required to fire up a node, post-Tenderbake? Also, I understand zk and optimistic rollups will bring their own needs to the table - so for folks looking to fire up a node, what’s a decent recommendation to futureproof a build now (June 2022)? Thanks.

We have been using a physical server from Server Hub (aff link) for almost 2 years with no issues. There was one scheduled outage and we flipped to our backup beforehand.

It’s an Intel Xeon E3-1230 v2, 4 cores @ 3.3Ghz with 16GB DDR3 and 240GB SSD for only $48/month.

Right now, Tezos is still not multi-threaded, so a processor with massive numbers of cores is just a complete waste as is anything over 16GB of RAM. An SSD is required as Tezos is extremely disk IO intensive. You’ll also need about 2-4TB of bandwidth per month. Tenderbake really jacked up the network IO usage.
