Project Summary:

We propose the creation of a dedicated “Tezos Events” page for XTZ.News This page will serve as a comprehensive calendar for Tezos-related events and provide a platform for event organizers to submit their events for publication. The goal is to enhance the Tezos community’s access to information about Tezos events, fostering greater engagement and participation within the ecosystem.

Project Scope:

The proposed project includes the development of two key components:

  1. Tezos Events Page: This page will serve as a centralized hub for Tezos-related events. It will feature an intuitive calendar-style layout for easy navigation and user-friendly access to event details. The page will include the following sections:
  • Upcoming Events: A list of Tezos events scheduled for the future.
  • Past Events: A section featuring events that have already taken place.
  • Event Map: An interactive map displaying the locations of upcoming events.
  1. Events Submission Page: This page will enable event organizers and community members to submit Tezos-related events for inclusion on the Tezos Events Page. Regular daily event approval monitoring will take place. It will include fields for event details, such as:
  • Event Creator: Name of the event organizer.
  • Name of Event: Title of the event.
  • Event Description: A brief description of the event.
  • Event Agenda: A customizable agenda, allowing event organizers to break down event schedules.
  • Date of Event: The date on which the event will occur.
  • Length of Event: Duration of the event.
  • Speakers for the Event: Names and pictures of event speakers.
  • Location of Event: The event’s physical or virtual location.
  • Website Link for the Event: A link to the event’s official website.
  • Social Media Links for Event: Links to the event’s social media profiles.

Integration with Google Calendar:

The Tezos Events Page will seamlessly integrate with Google Calendar, allowing users to add Tezos events to their personal calendars for easy tracking and reminders.

Project Implementation:

Implementation option for the Tezos Events Page:

  1. Custom Build: For a tailored solution, we can develop a custom post type that aligns with the specific needs of the project.
  • Cost: £2375 + VAT (at 20%) in external development
  • Timeframe: Approximately 2 - 3 weeks from project commencement date, allow for 2 months from any DAO approval to fit around developer times.

Project Management and Quality Assurance:

We will follow our standard development process, which includes wireframing, design, development, rigorous QA testing, and the final launch. Our team will ensure a seamless user experience and that all features are thoroughly tested before deployment.

Conclusion:

We believe that the creation of a dedicated Tezos Events Page will greatly benefit the Tezos community by providing a centralized platform for event discovery and submission. We seek funding from the Tezos Ecosystem DAO to cover the development costs associated with this project, as outlined above.

We look forward to contributing to the growth and engagement of the Tezos ecosystem through this valuable addition to https://xtz.news.

  1. What type of background or experience do you have and your team have in building out a project like this: We have our website XTZ.News and we have also created other tools such as the Tezos Reddit Bot.
  2. Social handles of project, if any: https://twitter.com/XTZNews
  3. Funding amount being requested (please make sure the DAO treasury can currently support it, suggested range is 500–20,000 tez depending on project requirements and value): 5500 tez
  4. Tez address to be funded (please verify accuracy): tz2P6YTBYRw9vcAtQh1moByhCNnbQiHEFbFb
  5. Proposed goals/GPIs to deliver for the requested funding (funding may be broken into two tranches, with final half distributed after some proven deliverables): Completed Design and Wireframing (Tranch 1 - 1 month after DAO approval) Completed Events Page (Tranch 2 - 2 months after DAO approval).

Extra information: We could do this slightly cheaper with a Wordpress plugin option, this would cost £995+VAT (20%) in external development and we could do this for 2500 tez, allow for 2 months from DAO approval.

The exact quotes and options from our external developers for this project have been put forward as:

Events Page

There are two ways to do this; we can either use an event WordPress plugin and style it to match the rest of the site, or create a custom post type and add the functionality we need. This is more work intensive and therefore expensive to build, but will reduce bloat (volume of functions within the plugin that aren’t needed) and gives more flexibility moving forward. Costs as below;

WordPress Plugin – Purchase of the plugin, install and style as required. QA testing and push live.

  • Cost £995 + VAT (Timeframe approx. 1.5 – 2 weeks)

Custom build – This would involve our usual process of wireframing, design, development, QA and launch.

  • Cost £2375 + VAT (Timeframe approx. 2 - 3 weeks)

Many thanks for considering our proposal and two potential options. If we get feedback about a particular suitable option we would consider resubmitting a new proposal with the option which has more support.

Thank you Simon, we are interested in seeing if the community would prefer any of the different options. We are also aware of another team who are building a calendar/events page and we would be happy to support their efforts too or even collaborate if they would like to. We think a user-submitted events-type page/calendar is quite necessary for this ecosystem with so many events taking place no matter which site it is on.

A Community-Sourced Events Calendar is a real need in Tezos, which is why TTC has been developing one, and announcing it in Spaces, Twitter, TC, and even on XTZNews, like the article you just published about TTC today.

We’d like to know if funding is necessary for this proposal’s execution to determine our next steps.

TTC’s spirit has always been cooperation, not competition. As a community-driven project with limited resources, we rely on skilled community volunteers and do not wish to waste more of their time in vain.

Interesting. I was reading today on XTZ.News that TheTezosCommunity planned to do the same:

  1. Empowering Coordination The next milestone is a Tezos Calendar designed to meticulously organize every event within the Tezos ecosystem.

Surely a needed feature for Tezos. Hope resources get spent mindfully.

Hi Rubis,

Thank you for the message. For us, this proposal would need to be funded, unfortunately. We have just spent additional money on top of our last TF grant on upgrading languages on the site (further than the original scope) so we have used our own funds on that, it would not be possible to use anymore for this at this time.

Could you tell us a bit more about your proposed events calendar i.e. how much it would cost etc, we too want to foster the spirit of cooperation and not competition. We will happily drop our proposal or work together if it’s right for the ecosystem to do so. Yes, it would be silly to utilize funds on two similar proposals.

Let’s discuss your proposal and find the best solution for the community.

Many thanks

Yes, we will not go into competition. We will do what’s right for the ecosystem to foster cooperation, and so the DAO can make the best use of any funds. Thanks Relaixo.

Hi!

Thank you for your response. We’ll be more than happy to discuss it with you and explore how we can align our efforts for the benefit of the community. Collaboration is indeed the best approach, and we’re interested to find the best solution together.

Maybe we could set a group at discord to discuss this further. My user is _rubisco and my DMs are open.

Hi All,

Due to time constraints on our behalf and the fact there is a duplicate proposal incoming from The Tezos Community. We will be withdrawing our proposal. We look forward to viewing and supporting the Tezos Community’s proposal for the event page. If our proposal is ever needed again in the future, we will be on standby for that too.

Many thanks

Thank you for your support to TTC.
We’re currently working on a MVP, before we submit our proposal.
