Announcing Octez v16.0~rc1

A new release candidate of Octez (16.0~rc1) is available. If this release candidate proves to be stable, it will be released as version 16.0.

We invite you to test this release candidate on Limanet, Ghostnet or the upcoming Mumbainet test networks, and to report any issue on https://gitlab.com/tezos/tezos/-/issues so that they can be fixed before the release.

This release candidate contains a new version (V8) of the protocol environment, which is the set of functions that protocols can call. This new version is used by the Mumbai protocol, a proposal for the successor of Lima on Tezos Mainnet.

Octez v16.0~rc1 also includes the Mumbai protocol itself and its associated executables. These include new executables for Smart Rollups, namely octez-smart-rollup-node-PtMumbai, octez-smart-rollup-client-PtMumbai and octez-smart-rollup-wasm-debugger. See the Smart Rollups documentation for more information.

:warning: Octez version 15.0 renamed all executables. The tezos- prefix has been replaced by octez- and protocol numbers have been removed. However, old names were still available via symbolic links, mapping old names to new names. Starting from version 16.0, these symbolic links will no longer be created when compiling from source. Thus, old names are no longer supported :warning:

Full changelog and update instructions are available in the version 16 release page:
